FAIR

FAIR is a digital product that takes a stab at streamlining the process of completing a FAFSA application by leveraging AI. It provides the user with a content-rich interface and a bot called FAIRBot, making it a fun and interactive experience for the target audience (teenagers). The main goal is to make completing the FAFSA straightforward, accessible, and most importantly, inclusive.

Description 

FAIR is a product design concept that demonstrates my various skills. From concept ideation and development, to UX research, to UI design & prototyping, to launching and marketing the product. The marketing aspect reflects a great demand for thinking outside the box, and leveraging advanced technology (e.g., Augmented Reality).

Outcome 

The final result was successful, and the project was selected to be featured in an exhibition at CityTech ↗ in Spring of 2023 (The COMD Senior Project Showcase is a semi-annual showcase that represents the best of the COMD students. It highlights the skill and determination that is of a semester-long independent project).

FAIRBot

    The key feature ideas of the platform include an intuitive dashboard, a streamlined FAFSA application process, a library of informational videos, all aimed at ensuring every student has the tools they need to secure financial aid.

  • This guerrilla marketing campaign aims to showcase the user-friendly and supportive nature of FAIRBot by comparing the FAFSA application process to a casual conversation with a friend. The campaign utilizes interactive experiences and community engagement to convey this message.

    CONCEPT

    • The core idea is to demonstrate that completing the FAFSA with FAIRBot is stress-free and approachable.

    EXECUTION

    • Handing out and placing branded materials in school areas (libraries, cafeteria, halls, etc) where students can experience an augmented reality demo of FAIRBot.

  • An initiative to provide practical tips and create an engaging platform for students to voice their queries and receive personalized guidance.

    CONCEPT

    • Leverage Instagram's interactive features for a weekly session to address questions and concerns about the FAFSA. Incorporate polls, quizzes, and countdowns to enhance engagement and interaction.

    EXECUTION

    • FAIR posts an Instagram Story with IG stickers.

    • FAIRBot replies to these questions in subsequent Stories, offering clear, concise answers.

    • Encourage students to share their own tips and experiences, fostering a sense of community and support.

    • Link back to FAIR and use #ItsLikeChattingWithAFriend to tie both campaigns together.

Campaign 

  • CONCEPT

    • Encourage students to share their success stories and testimonials about completing their FAFSA with the help of FAIRBot using engaging and trendy AR filters. The campaign aims to make the process fun and interactive, leveraging social media to create a buzz and sense of achievement around the FAFSA completion.

    EXECUTION

    • Launch the campaign by using Instagram’s "Share yours" sticker with the prompt: "Done with the FAFSA? Share it!"

    • A custom AR filter that students can use to share their celebration. Filter includes the celebratory phrase "ACED THE FAFSA!"

    • Every end of the week, feature the first THREE students who completed their FAFSA with FAIRBot and replied with the filter on FAIR’s Instagram story.
